THE LAZY HOSTESS’S TOP FIVE CHRISTMAS COCKTAILS

Confused about what cocktail to serve with Christmas celebrations? Well help is at hand. Babe Scott, aka The Lazy Hostess has created five Christmas cocktails for every occasion so you can have an easy arsenal of Christmas Cheer up your sleeve at all times!

The Night Before Christmas is the perfect cocktail to fortify yourself on Christmas Eve; Eggstatic Eggnog will win over your relatives on Christmas Day; the After Dinner Mint drink is the ideal ending for any festive meal; the Christmas Cosmo will have your girlfriends giggling; and a medicinal dose of the Merry Morning After will re-energize you and get you going for the next onslaught of family festivities

Night Before Christmas

cranberry

25 ml vanilla vodka
50 ml Cranberry juice
Top with brut champagne
Pour vanilla vodka and Cranberry juice into a Champagne flute and fill
with sparkling wine. (Makes one serving)

Eggstatic Eggnog

Holiday Eggnog

1 egg
1 tbsp sugar
¼ teaspoon vanilla
35 ml whole milk
25 ml heavy cream
25ml Cognac
1/8 tsp nutmeg, plus more for serving

In a bowl, whisk together eggs and sugar until light in color and sugar is dissolved. Whisk in vanilla, milk, heavy cream, Cognac and nutmeg. Strain into a martini glass half filled with ice, shake for 10 seconds, strain and pour into a martini glass. Sprinkle with nutmeg. You can also use cinnamon or pumpkin spice to taste. (Makes one serving).

* If you are doing a pitcher sized pour, you can simply mix it all together and pour into a pitcher half filled with ice, stir for 10 seconds and then strain before serving.

After Dinner Mint Cocktail

35ml whole milk or heavy cream
15ml green crème de menthe
15ml oz crème de cacao

Shake all ingredients for 8 to 10 seconds, until blended, in a cocktail shaker half filled with ice. Strain and serve in a martini glass. If you like, dip the rim of the glass in crème de menthe and edge with chocolate sprinkles. (Makes one serving)

ChristmasCosmo

Christmas Cosmo

35ml vodka
35ml cranberry
15ml amaretto

Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker half filled with ice cubes. Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass. Makes on serving.

* If you want to give your cocktail a festive feel, before pouring dip the rim of the glass in Cranberry juice and edge with red sugar. You can make the red sugar simply by adding red food coloring to regular sugar in a sealed container shaking and letting sit for half and hour or so.

Merry Morning After

25ml Cognac
Hot black coffee
Whipped cream
1 tsp sugar

Add Cognac to your coffee mug, fill with coffee and sweeten to taste. Gently float whipped cream on to, sprinkle with grated chocolate, and serve. (Makes one serving)
